Name of Map: Epic Fortress V1
Primary Map Type: Unique.
Secondary Map Type: Unique.
Size of Map:
   Zipped: 1.29MB
   Unzipped: 1.28MB
   Memory Used: 128MB
   Map Size: 63 X 63
Maximum Number of Players: 10
Tested: For several days. :P
Tools Used: Annihilator 1.5, PaintShop Pro 5.
Known Bugs: Tell an airplane to fly across the whole map and he may go backwards. This is apparently a problem with the main game engine. I don't think unit AI was optimized for pathfinding on insanely large maps.

Technical: Simply put, building "The Epic Series" of maps has been my life for the past couple months. Every tile, height, and piece of eye candy was carefully planned and moved until ideal. This has nearly driven me nuts. I love insanely huge maps because they are like real battlefields. Not like smaller maps that are like wrestling rings. In truth this map is not finished. Or at least what I would call finished. It would take a few more months to reach perfection. I'll release future versions. Contact me if you have ideas. But future releases are some time off. And I figured out how to hack things for it a couple months ago that will blow your minds. Secrets for now though...

Also, I should say that 128MB RAM is not really enough. It should be playable if you have an effecient machine, but 256MB barely cuts it for games with 10 AIs. And how else could you play a game with this much space? I guess you could turn on fog of war and play hide and seek with planes...

One of my favorite small maps of all time was "Delta Class Fortress" by the author HB. In honor of this map, and with his permission, I now give you its big brother "Epic Fortress V1". I admit it wasn't that diffucult to make. I simply took his map and repeated it 9 times. But none the less this map is simply brillant. If you thought it was great before, just wait until you see it at 63X63 screens. It becomes clear that this is the size it was meant to be played at. Also I am going to promise that if "Epic Fortress V1" gets over 5000 downloads from TAMEC, then I will build a full 63X63 map, using HB's city tileset by hand. No copy and paste job. I'll make it huge, detailed, and original. Now it's up to you the public to decide the fate of this series...

Story: It was during the last years of the war that all humans had been relocated to the fortresses. With the conflict reaching an all time high of destruction, these civilains were hidden deep under ground, beneath what were once unapproachable artillery fortresses. Now they are merely a highly defensable urban warground. The Core means to exterminate all biological life here. The Arm will fight to the last to prevent this.
